Time.

"What then is time? If no one asks me, I know what it is. If I wish to explain it to him who asks, I do not know."
- St. Augustine

Time; does it exist?
Is it real?
Will we ever know?

Time is a weird thing; it is often labelled "A fundamental part of day to day life." or "A fundamental concept to our Universe." But me, being a big thinker, always questions it further. Generally to the point where I simply could not comprehend going any farther.

Our minds can only perceive things which exist; are reality. (Basically put, in front of us to see.) But time, it is not there for us to look at. We cannot imagine time, as we have not seen it in physical form. Yes, we have clocks, but do they measure time? Or a concept of ageing and decay? Does time exist or is it a humans perception of things changing? Can you define time? Or do you just 'think' you know it?

Most of you think time is constant, that it will never change. If you think this then you are actually wrong. Time is being bent all around us. ...And yes, it has been proven. The phenomenon in which time is bent is called "Time Dilation" and was brought to us by the magnificent man Albert Einstein. The theory basically states that the closer you get to "c" (The Speed of Light) the slower time affects you. It also happens when you are close to a large mass (i.e Earth), Astronauts in space are ageing slower than us (comparing both to someone stationary on Earth), due to them traveling at high speeds and being farther away from Earth. Why does this happen? Is this proof of time?

If time does exist, then I think it isn't Universal. I think it is relative; it depends on where you are. Like on Earth to be honest, time is different everywhere. But thats due to the fact we measure time by using the rotation of the Earth, and the Sun.

So then to conclude with time, is it just a concept of our imagination, built up to help us understand the Universe? Or is it just a measurement of where you are, compared to other objects? Or does it just not exist, and our bodies just have our own 'clocks' that are in synch with everyone else? These are the questions you need to answer for yourself. They encourage deeper thinking.

Thanks for reading, Ben.
