Evolution.

"Evolution is not a force but a process. Not a cause but a law." - John Morley

Evolution, a well known and established theory. Much evidence behind it, yet its still only a theory - will it ever be proven?

Many people argue that evolution is a lie, they dismiss it completely - we need literally everyone to acknowledge the evidence and how it points toward evolution, it may be proven - it may not. Not matter what though people will argue against it.

So what is evolution?

Well the definition states it is: "change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift."

Let me give you a basic example, we have 5 ancient giraffes; 4 short necked, 1 has a mutation. The mutated giraffe has a longer neck than the rest of them. They live their life as normal, eating leaves off trees until... all the lower leaves have been ate. Only the giraffe with a longer neck can survive, and he does this by eating the higher up leaves. The other giraffes die out due to lack of food, and only the longer necked giraffe survives. So only the longer necked giraffe can breed, s/he reproduces and its child has a longer neck - longer necked giraffes live longer, and can reproduce - so short necked giraffes die out.

This is a basic explanation of why we have long necked giraffes today, and what evolution is. The mutations in animals that lead them to surviving better than other non mutated animals, so that mutating becomes dominant.

Humans have evolved too, tomorrow I will be going over our adaptations, and adaptations in general.

Thanks for reading, Ben.
